Congratulations to Our 2022-23 Grant Recipients!

We are pleased to announce 9 “From Excellent to Exceptional” grants for the 2022-23 school year, bringing innovation in a wide range of curricular areas to students in the Wayzata School District. The grants, totaling more than $52,000, are funded by donations from Wayzata families and  businesses.

The 2022-23 Wayzata Education Fund grants will impact thousands of students of all ages, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds, and physical and mental abilities from across the Wayzata School District. In addition, the grants will reach across many different curricular areas, including math, reading, science, writing and physical education.

The 9 projects receiving 2022-23 funding from the Wayzata Education Fund include:

  • Continued support for the Wayzata High School Ropes Course, thanks to teacher Katie Frick 
  • Support for the new Writing Exploration Center at Wayzata High School, thanks to teachers Emily Haugh and Dawn Johnson
  • Licenses to use Google Expedition Software for virtual 3D experiences at North Woods and Sunset Hill Elementary Schools, thanks to teachers Angela Henry and Michele Hull
  • The purchase of a Droneblocks Coding Drone Simulator at Sunset Hill Elementary, thanks to teacher Robert Olson 
  • A CNC Plasma Table used to cut metals for the metal manufacturing program at Wayzata High School, thanks to teacher Ken Pashina
  • Paper day planners for all incoming 6th grade students at West Middle School to help new middle schoolers meet the challenges of an increased class load, thanks to teacher Mary Sholl
  • 150 Graphing calculators so that all students can access a graphing calculator if needed for Wayzata High School math classes, thanks to teacher William Skerbitz
  • 75 diverse and inclusive books for each of the 9 elementary schools’ media centers, thanks to media specialist Rebecca Whitlock
  • A rapid prototype 3D printer that can print wood filament for the wood manufacturing program at Wayzata High School, thanks to teacher Kyle Swenson
