Join the Board

We are always looking to fill a seat or three on our board. Our board is an all volunteer board so an extra set of hands is welcome! As a board member you get to review and vote for the awesome grant requests we receive. You also get to participate in one of the most fun things we get to do – delivering bundt cakes for Thank a Teacher!

When you join the board we do ask that you actively participate. From coming to our monthly meetings to being on a committee to helping with one of our events throughout the year there’s always something that could be done. We also request that you plan to be on the board for a minimum three year term.

    Monthly Meeting Expectations

Our monthly meetings are routinely the second Tuesday of each month from 7:00PM to 8:30PM. We ask that all voting members plan to attend at least 10 of the 12 meetings in a year. We aim to have virtual attendance via Zoom as an option for most meetings.

We have two critical times during the year where meeting attendance is very important: grant voting season (Feb-Apr) and golf season (July-Sept).

    Annual Timeline

Our work is cyclical which allows us to know when areas of the board are busier than others. The timeline below should be helpful to know what a typical year looks like.

    Skills in Demand

We try to be good stewards of donations so we’re always on the lookout for potential members with specific skill sets that would be especially helpful to us. We’re currently on the lookout for people with the following skills/experience:

    • Event planning
    • Marketing / Publicity
    • Fundraising
    • Community organizing
    • Graphic design
    • Technology / website support

You don’t need these skills to join the board, but if you have them (or know someone who does) we’d sure love to hear about it!

    Want to Join?

If you’d like to join please fill out the form below to indicate interest. Once we hear from you we’ll setup a call or meet for coffee, we’ll have you come to a board meeting, and if you are still interested we’ll have you back for a second meeting to vote on your membership.
