Student Built Cornhole Sets

Reed Johnson, Central Middle School. $500

Why This Grant?

We are partnering with Aron Kukowski of Tech Ed to build bag boards to be used in our yard game units, as well as during MyTime as an activity. Mr. Kukowski hopes to utilize MyTime this year to have students help build the boards for Corn Hole and customize this. It will be a great use of MyTime for students who are interested in working with their hands and would like to show off their creativity and leave a legacy at CMS for future students to use. In the past Mr. Kukowski has built goals for our hockey unit with students and they loved the opportunity to build something that would be useful to future students, and we hope to do this again. It is a great collaboration for both the Phy. Ed and Tech ed. departments.

From Our Teachers:

"It's awesome to see physical education students utilizing classroom made curriculum. My students have loved playing with the corn hole and it's a fun lifetime activity that is made with some TLC from CMS!"

"It was fun to see students be able to be creative and build something outside of the curriculum. I had a great time seeing students in a different light and building something that would be utilized well after they graduate from the high school"

"I found it so cool to see the process from beginning to end as students built these cornhole sets and added their own design ideas. This class of students have left a lasting legacy behind for students to enjoy for years to come! Thank you to the PTA for this grant to allow students to have a direct contribution to our Tech Ed and PE departments."

Status: funded in May 2023, built in SY 2023-2024. Being used during My Time in SY 2024-2025.
