In Their Own Words
Motor Room
Approximately 700 students, from infancy through age 5, will benefit from the motor room space. We are targeting using coordination of gross motor skills, cooperative play, turn taking, participation in group activities, executive functioning/planning, motor skills, and providing heavy work for all the students. This project would allow more students to participate in motor activities and provide equipment for new experiences that will strengthen and foster imaginative and motor play. We also want to ensure that all children have access to motor room activities, which is why we particularly targeted the adaptive bikes and large blocks that are inclusive.
Die-Cuts
Die-cuts and a corresponding press are critical for early childhood educators because they will save time and increase precision so staff do not need to cut out shapes/objects. These die cuts will allow staff to create new projects that they may not have previously created due to the amount of time required to create them. Multiple objects can be cut simultaneously. The addition of new die cuts would allow staff to create new materials to add to classroom repertoires. For example, a class set of materials could be laminated and created to accompany songs, such as "Five Little Monkeys" and students can participate by moving their monkey along with the class, targeted imaginative, engagement, and kinesthetic skills.
