Why This Grant?

East Middle School did not have the proper equipment in its weight room to align with other middle schools in the district and to adequately educate students on a piece of fitness equipment commonly found in gyms and workout facilities. PE teachers Kristine Miska and Marc DeVoe submitted a grant request to purchase a half squat/bench rack for the East Middle School Fitness Center. Students are now able to learn how to safely use this equipment and understand how it contributes to a strength training regimen.

They also sought funding for the disc golf course to ensure that kids have the same access across all three Wayzata Middle Schools.
